I spoke at the Cusp Conference Order Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online now, last week to a packed audience at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art about health, design, and time. Other speakers were Richard Saul Wurman who founded TED and Maggie Breslin who heads up the Mayo Clinic's SPARC Design Group, Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) from canadian pharmacy. Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) trusted pharmacy, There were many more amazing speakers.

The argument I made is that how we spend our time is the number one killer in the developed world and modern medicine doesn't have the tools to improve how we spend our time, buy cheap Cipro (Ciprofloxacin). Online buying Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) hcl, From 1880 to 1960, our life expectancy increased 31 years, where can i buy cheapest Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online. From 1960 to 2010 (the era of "modern medicine"), we've only added 7 years, order Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online now. Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) price, It was simple public health measures like clean water, vaccines, where can i find Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online, Buy cheap Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) no rx, and antibiotics that made such a drastic change prior to 1960. And now we're stuck because pills and scalpels don't fix unhealthy lifestyle, buy Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online cod. Japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal, So, if modern medicine isn't going to fix our bad behavior, purchase Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online no prescription, Buy Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) from canada, what will.

I'm calling this Public Health 2.0, rx free Cipro (Ciprofloxacin). Order Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online now, Public Health 2.0 is taking an active role in designing our built environment, our food supply, our activities, and our social connections to ultimately influence for the better how we spend our time in this modern world. Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) samples, We should talk about good design more in terms of health.

Chicago has done their best to lead by example, buy Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) from mexico. Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) coupon, The new Millennium Park is a phenomenal example of "healthy" urban design. It brings people together to give us ridiculously interesting things to see, Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) over the counter, Where can i order Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) without prescription, hear, feel, buy Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) without a prescription, Order Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) no prescription, and smell. It gives us a reason to be active and connect with our friends and family, buy no prescription Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) online. Buy generic Cipro (Ciprofloxacin), This is Public Health 2.0.

We put a new innovation team member (Nate Kvamme) onto the questions - how do we link bikes and health, japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal. Order Actoplus Met Online Now, And how do we rapidly prototype. Buy Actoplus Met no prescription, We quickly had a bike sharing system up and running for our Humana staff. The technology kind of sucked, buy cheap Actoplus Met no rx, Order Actoplus Met online overnight delivery no prescription, but more than 2500 of our staff signed up to the program in a few weeks. But we were on the road, buy Actoplus Met without a prescription, Actoplus Met samples, proving the concept, building important internal support (not the least of which from our senior Olympian Chairman David Jones), online buying Actoplus Met hcl. Buy generic Actoplus Met, The next step was getting serious and this took finding superb partners - Trek Bike Corporation - John Burke and Bob Burns -- and Crispin Porter Bogusky with Alex Bogusky and Eric Lear (and Andrew Davison and Greg Loomis). We gelled as a team, Order Actoplus Met Online Now. We built a joint venture company, purchase Actoplus Met online no prescription. Actoplus Met trusted pharmacy, We made some expensive mistakes, we juggled things around, buy Actoplus Met online cod, Buy Actoplus Met without prescription, our team stayed pretty small, but each company threw in lots of extra help and committed people, where can i buy Actoplus Met online. Where can i find Actoplus Met online, I know we did in the Innovation Center where the whole team was prepared to paper over any cracks we saw developing. So I'm sure our real team was far larger than what we were all budgeting, buy no prescription Actoplus Met online. Order Actoplus Met Online Now, We then linked up with the City of Denver and a visionary team of local entrepreneurs. Buy Actoplus Met online no prescription, And we launched yesterday the largest citywide bike sharing system in America. Scores more cities to go, purchase Actoplus Met online. Order Actoplus Met no prescription, Putting people on bikes, cutting out car rides, online buy Actoplus Met without a prescription, Australia, uk, us, usa, building an engaged community of active people.

I'm missing a lot out; the challenges we faced, where can i order Actoplus Met without prescription, Buy cheap Actoplus Met, the people involved, the ups and downs, order Actoplus Met online c.o.d. Just trying to give you a flavor, Order Actoplus Met Online Now. Buy cheap Actoplus Met no rx, It was and still is a committed team driven by more than business sense-- driven by the need to do something for health and for the planet and for community-building. Driven by people, buy Actoplus Met without a prescription, Buy Actoplus Met without prescription, not a process.

And back to Kirk. He started a tidal wave. And now he's off on his bike to circumnavigate the USA. Good on you Matey.

Happiness itself is a commons to which everyone should have equal access.

That’s the view of Enrique Peñalosa, who is not a starry-eyed idealist given to abstract theorizing. He’s actually a politician, who served as mayor of Bogotá, Colombia, for three years, and now travels the world spreading a message about how to improve quality-of-life for everyone living in today’s cities.

Peñalosa’s ideas stand as a beacon of hope for cities of the developing world, which even with their poverty and immense problems will absorb much of the world’s population growth over the next half-century. Based on his experiences in Bogotá, Peñalosa believes it’s a mistake to give up on these cities as good places to live.

In three years (1998-2001) as mayor of Colombia’s capital city of 7 million, Peñalosa’s Administration accomplished the following:

Led a team that created the TransMilenio, a bus rapid transit system (BRT), which now carries a half-million passengers daily on special bus lanes that offer most of the advantages of a subway at a fraction of the cost.

Built 52 new schools, refurbished 150 others and increased student enrollment by 34 percent.

Established or improved 1200 parks and playgrounds throughout the city.

Built three central and 10 neighborhood libraries.

Built 100 nurseries for children under five.

Improved life in the slums by providing water service to 100 percent of Bogotá households.

Bought undeveloped land on the outskirts of the city to prevent real estate speculation and ensured that it will be developed as affordable housing with electrical, sewage, and telephone service as well as space reserved for parks, schools, and greenways.

Established 300 kilometers of separated bikeways, the largest network in the developing world.

Created the world’s longest pedestrian street, 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) crossing much of the city as well as a 45- kilometer (28 miles) greenway along a path that had been originally slated for an eight-lane highway.

Reduced traffic by almost 40 percent by implementing a system where motorists must leave cars at home during rush hour two days a week. He also raised parking fees and local gas taxes, with half of the proceeds going to fund the new bus transit system.

Inaugurated an annual car-free day, where everyone from CEOs to janitors commuted to work in some way other than a private automobile.

Planted 100,000 trees.

"Hospitals have a brutal effect on the earth. They consume twice as much energy as typical office buildings and operate 24/7. Often, they're little better for people: The billion health-care-construction industry habitually neglects design elements such as access to daylight that have been shown to boost healing. "Hospitals are the most challenging building type to make sustainable, but they also present some of the biggest opportunities for designers," says Jean Mah, a principal at architecture firm Perkins + Will. "The potential benefits to people and the environment are so high." The U.S. Green Building Council, spurred by designers, activists, and health professionals, is now developing LEED for Healthcare, a set of standards to help hospitals achieve sustainability. What might the hospital of the future look like? We drew up a prototype."

In “Green Metropolis,” David Owen sets out in similar vein to show how people can “permanently reduce energy use, water consumption, carbon output and many other environmental ills.” The answer, in short, is to live in densely populated cities. Would that it were so easy.

Owen, a staff writer for The New Yorker, makes a convincing case that Manhattan, Hong Kong and large, old European cities are inherently greener than less densely populated places because a higher percentage of their inhabitants walk, bike and use mass transit than drive; they share infrastructure and civic services more efficiently; they live in smaller spaces and use less energy to heat their homes (because those homes tend to share walls); and they’re less likely to accumulate a lot of large, energy-sucking appliances. People in cities use about half as much electricity as people who don’t, Owen reports, and the average New Yorker generates fewer greenhouse gases annually than “residents of any other American city, and less than 30 percent of the national average.”

We think of the environment in terms of sustainability. We need to also think about health and healthcare in terms of sustainability. If it is our social duty to protect the environment for future humans, isn’t it also our social duty to maximize our health given the excessively high cost of healthcare and the devastating effects expensive illnesses have on our economy and the financial livelihood of future generations?

The green movement is about environmental sustainability. The “healthcare movement” should be about financial sustainability.

Often, they're little better for people: The billion health-care-construction industry habitually neglects design elements such as access to daylight that have been shown to boost healing.
